TOWN OF CRANE LAKE

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING

June 9, 2015

 

 

The June 9, 2015 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 7:35PM at the Crane Lake Fire Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including: Supervisors Butch Eggen, and Jerry Pohlman; Treasurer Traci Bak; Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, and 2 members of the community. Supervisor Jim Janssen was absent.

 

 

BUSINESS

 

Additions to the Agenda:  There were no additions.

 

Minutes – A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to approve the minutes of the 5/12/2015 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report –The May Cash Balances were read and the bills were presented as follows:  Costin Group – $1,000.00; St. Louis County Auditor – $50.00; MN Assn of Townships Agency – $988.00; Fryberger, Buchanan – $1,748.25; and Payroll – $593.84.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

The Clerk presented the correspondence.  The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Land Exchange/Community Property Project: There was nothing new to report.

 

Jacque Eggen Memorial Fund:  There was no report.

 

Costin Group Report:  Gary Cerkvenik reported that he continues to work with folks on the ATV/UTV issue on Forest Roads, including Bruce Beste, and advised on 501c3; researched applicable Legacy funds for park presence or trails; worked on funding for the VNP presence.

 

Crane Lake Road Repair:  There was no report.

 

VNP-Visitor Center/Campsite:  There was no report.

 

Frontier Internet:  There was nothing new to report.

 

ATV Use on Vermilion Falls Road:  Committee Chairman Bruce Beste reported that the club has grown to 250 – 300 members.  Businesses have requested posters for their establishments.  At the May 27th meeting with County and State officials an action item was brought forward by St. Louis County requesting that affected Town Boards pass a motion of support to be forwarded to St. Louis County.  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, stating that the Crane Lake Township Board of Supervisors support the efforts of the Voyageur Country ATV Club in opening roads to ATV use, recognizing that Crane Lake Township has no township roads or authority over county roads within Crane Lake Township.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.  A letter will be sent to the County Administrator advising of Township action with copies sent to Jim Foldesi, St. Louis Public Works and County Commissioner Tom Rukavina.

 

Crane Lake Comprehensive Plan:  John Powers of Applied Insights North reported that their team did not have time to work on the Crane Lake Project this past month but plan to be back on track soon.  Butch suggested that the 2014 population and household estimates received from the State Demographic Center be forwarded to Mr. Powers.

NEW BUSINESS – There was none.

 

 

Comments from Officers:  Jerry thanked Bruce for his work on the ATV Project.  Butch mentioned that the 4th of July celebration would occur prior to the next Board Meeting and hoped everyone would enjoy the parade and fireworks.

 

Public Comments:  Bruce Beste asked who organizes the 4th of July parade.  The response was that the parade has never been organized, it just happens.

 

 

Next Meeting:    Board of Supervisors’ Meeting, July 14, 2015, 7:30PM – Fellowship Hall
