Flood Damage Assessment Notification
The St. Louis County Assessor’s office will be conducting site inspections for potential tax relief due to the May/June 2022 flooding on July 28th and 29th.
The inspections will involve reviewing any assessable structures damaged by the flooding and a determination of the level of damage for each structure. The inspections will not include personal property such as docks, driveways, septics/wells, or the land itself.
The property owner does not need to be present for these inspections; however, if they are available, the Assessor’s office welcomes interior damage inspections and any additional information pertaining to surrounding impacted properties.
An abatement application for properties eligible for tax relief will be left with the taxpayer or placed in an envelope in the door.
It is important that the applications be returned to the St. Louis County Assessor’s office by August 31st in order to be granted the tax relief!
If there are any questions or the taxpayer would like to schedule an appointment with the Assessor’s office, please contact the Assessor’s office in Virginia at (218) 741-7149.
