BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING

July 10, 2012

 

The July 10, 2012 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 7:30PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including: Supervisors Butch Eggen & Jerry Pohlman, Treasurer Terrie Hoff and Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman.  Supervisor Jim Janssen was absent.

 

 

BUSINESS

 

Additions to the Agenda: St. Louis County Sheriff‘s Volunteer Rescue Squad donation was added to New Business

 

Minutes – A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to approve the minutes of the 6/12/2012 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Terrie read the June Cash Balances and presented the bills as follows:  Arthur Eggen – $97.68; IRS – $351.33; CLVFD – $25,000.00; Border State Bank – $5,371.53; CLVTB – $4,546.52; and Payroll – $524.84. A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

The Clerk presented the correspondence.  The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Land Exchange/Community Property Project: Butch said there was nothing new to report.

 

CLWSD Report:  Rob Scott provided a written report to the Board.

  • The plant continued to operate within MPCA standards for the month of June.
  • A response was received from the DNR in support of the extension of the sewer line to improve local water quality.  The DNR is committed to making an annual payment to the District equal to the average of what was paid for connection and service by the Water’s Edge RV Park over the last three years up to $10,000.  The commitment would be for up to four years or until a more permanent arrangement is in place.
  • The mediation meeting with RLK scheduled for 6/13/12 was rescheduled for July 24th due to RLK requesting additional time to review the District’s submission.
  • The District has received a notice of eligibility from the USDA-RD to compete with similar applications for funding during this fiscal year.

 

Assessor Status Report:  MN Department of Revenue is currently reviewing the status of Jan’s work.  The report has moved from the commissioner’s office to another entity at Revenue and it is expected to be ‘a number of months’ before the report becomes public.

 

DNR Public Water Access Proposal: The Board received a response to the letter sent to the DNR on February 16th outlining the Township’s concerns with the proposed option to purchase Water’s Edge RV Park and a follow-up letter sent on June 13th.  Requested Economic Impact Statement procedure was not supplied by the DNR.

 

Jacque Eggen Memorial Fund:  There was nothing new to report.

 

High Speed Internet:  More information is still needed.

 

ATV Use on Roads:  There was no report.

NEW BUSINESS

 

Election Judge Appointments & Training:  A motion was made by Butch, supported to Jerry, to approve the Clerk’s roster of recommended election judges for appointment for the Primary Election on August 14, 2012.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.  All judges will be trained prior to the Primary Elections.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch, to approve mileage expenses for election judge training.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

St. Louis County Sheriff’s Volunteer Rescue Squad Donation:  The Board did not approve a donation.

 

Other New Business:  There was none.

Comments from Officers: Terrie is thinking to lower the amount spent on fireworks because not enough donations are being received.  Butch thanked Terry for the work she has done on the fireworks for the past 10 years.

PUBLIC COMMENTS – There were none.

 

 

Next Meeting:    Board of Supervisors’ Meeting, August 14, 2012 – Following Primary Elections, 8:15PM –  Fellowship Hall
