BOARD OF APPEAL & EQUALIZATION MEETING

April 21, 2010

 

The April 21, 2010 Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting of the Town of Crane Lake was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 4:05PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including:  Supervisors Jerry Pohlman, Jim Janssen and Butch Eggen, Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, Township Assessor Jan Jackson & Ron Olsen, St. Louis County Representatives Ben Thomas and Patrick Orent and 1 member of the community.

 

William Congdon, Parcel Code 308-0080-00406 appealed valuation of property.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch to reduce the valuation on the William Congdon property from $527,600 to $460,000; a reduction of $67,600 at Ms. Jackson’s recommendation re-grading the land value and house value because of off-lake location and to equalize with other properties in the neighborhood.  Jerry and Butch voted in favor, Jim abstained and the motion carried.

 

William Congdon,  Parcel Code 308-30-02030, Records 1 & 2 appealed valuation of property.  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry to reduce the valuation on the William Congdon property from $81,700 to $69,300, a reduction of $12,400 (Record 1) and from $17,000 to $5,000, a reduction of $12,000 (Record 2) as recommended by Ms. Jackson re-grading the land to 10 acres fair from average.  Butch and Jerry voted in favor, Jim abstained and the motion carried.

 

William Congdon,  Parcel Code 308-80-00400 appealed land value.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch to reduce valuation on the William Congdon property from $22,900 to $16,900, a reduction of $6,000 as recommended by Ms. Jackson due to garage quality.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

The following properties appealed directly to Ms. Jackson:

 

Jon Jarvinen, Parcel Code 308-0000-09679 appealed valuation.  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jim that valuation of the Jarvinen property remains the same as the valuation is comparable to others in the area.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Donald Nightingale, Parcel Code 308-0000-09659 appealed valuation.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Butch to decrease the valuation on the Nightingale property from $113,100 to $109,100, a reduction of $4,000 because there is no well.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Brian Berling, 308-0060-00520 appealed valuation.  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jim to decrease the valuation on the Berling property from $270,100 to $243,800, a reduction of $26,300 as there is no septic, no insulation and a non-working fire place.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

David Vorhies, Parcel Code 308-0030-03534 appealed valuation.  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry to reduce the valuation on the Vorhies property from $79,200 to $73,200, a reduction of $6,000 due to no well and no heater.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Tom Hall, Parcel Code 308-0010-00215 appealed valuation.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch to decrease the valuation on the Hall property from $307,400 to $295,200, a reduction of $12,200 due to correction of the front footage and acreage by the County Auditor.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Dennis Dreiman, Parcel Code 308-0010-00217.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Jerry to increase the Dreiman land valuation from 0 to $11,900 correcting an error made at the County level.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

 

 

 

 

Town of Crane Lake Board of Appeals Meeting Minutes – April 21, 2010

 

No list of Crane Lake Building Permits 2010 Assessment was presented for Board consideration.

 

There being no other requests from Crane Lake residents regarding property valuations or classifications, the Board of Appeals and Equalization Meeting was recessed at 5:30PM until May 3, 2010 when the meeting will reconvene to review the Dreiman valuation change should they appeal.
