BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING

April 12, 2011

 

The April 12, 2011 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 7:35PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including: Supervisors Butch Eggen, Jim Janssen and Jerry Pohlman, Treasurer Terrie Hoff, Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman and one member of the community.

 

BUSINESS

 

Additions to the Agenda:  Street lighting was added to New Business

 

Minutes – A motion was made by Jim, supported by Butch, to approve the minutes of the 3/8/2011 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Terrie read the March Cash Balances and presented the bills as follows:  Cook News-Herald – $36.00; Lutefisk Tech. – $21.25, CLVTB – $270.86; Crane Lake Sustainable Land Corp. – $150.00; IRS – $338.03 and Payroll – $535.49.  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jim, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

The Clerk presented the correspondence.  The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Land Exchange/Community Property Project: There was word received from Consultant David Schmidt that the feasibility analysis is being held up in Milwaukee.

 

CLWSD Report:  Rob Scott reported that the District is beginning to replace aging equipment at the plant.  There has been no freezing of the collection system to date.  There is a potential of freezing of the main lines that traverse the newly replaced culvert on Gold Coast Road.  The District is working with the contractor, U.S.A. that is performing the extension work on County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 24 to correct the culvert pipe installation.  The District is in the discussion phase with St. Louis County to remedy the situation with funds from the County.  The District continues to review the Joint Powers Board (JPB) Comprehensive Plan and how it affects the Eastern Service Area (ESA).  The JPB continues to seek funding options.  Rob attended a meeting of the International Lake of the Woods and Rainy River Watershed Task force on April 6th.  The water levels are within the rule curve, but on the high side.  Crane Lake is about one foot above the Namakan basin because of our natural dam, the Crane Lake narrows.  The electrical project at High Falls is on hold.

 

Spring Clean-Up Day Reminder:  Clean-Up day is Wednesday, April 27th at 4:30PM.  Meet at the Fellowship Hall.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Liquor License Approval:  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to grant the request for renewal of 2011/2012 Combination On-Sale/Off-Sale & Sunday On-Sale Intoxicating Liquor License for Crane Lake Bar & Grill, LLC.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Tobacco License Renewals & Approval:  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Butch knowing that he had a conflict as an owner of Nelson’s Resort, to adopt Resolution No. 2011-01 approving the issuance of a tobacco products license for Nelson’s Resort, Inc. d/b/a Nelson’s Resort for the year ending the 31st day of December 2011.  Jim and Butch voted in favor and Jerry abstained. The motion carried.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Jerry to adopt Resolution No. 2011-02 approving the issuance of a tobacco products license for Crane Lake Bar & Grill, LLC d/b/a Crane Lake Bar & Grill and Resolution No. 2011-03 approving the issuance of a tobacco products license for Scotts of Crane Lake d/b/a Scotts Seaplane Base, Store & Services both for the year ending the 31st day of December 2011.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

CLWSD Manager Opening:  The CLWSD has requested that the Township post and publish for an opening on the District Board beginning immediately and ending December 31, 2014 due to the resignation of Manager Dave Adams.

 

Street Lighting:  A community member requested that street lighting for the Gold Coast Road be considered.
