TOWN OF CRANE LAKE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING
March 13, 2018
The March 13, 2018 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 8:25PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with those in attendance including: Supervisors Butch Eggen, Jim Janssen and Jerry Pohlman; Treasurer Traci Bak; Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman; and 7 members of the community.
BUSINESS
Additions to the Agenda: None.
Minutes – A motion was made by Jim, supported by Butch, to approve the minutes of the 2/13/18 Board of Supervisors’ and the 2/26/18 Special Board of Supervisors’ Meetings. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report –The February Cash Balances were read and the bills were presented as follows: Costin Group – $1,250.00; Lake Country Power – $146.56; Heart of the Continent – $100.00; ATV Club – $5,000.00; CLVTB – $1,830.36; and Payroll – $965.09. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jim, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
The Clerk presented the correspondence. The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.
OLD BUSINESS
Jacque Eggen Memorial Fund: There was no report.
Costin Group Report: There was no report.
VNP-Visitor Center/Campsite: A VNP Committee Meeting has been scheduled by Holly Larson, Outdoor Recreation Planner of the Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance Program (RTCA), for Thursday, March 22nd at 2PM at the Fellowship Hall. Committee members that were present made a list of Crane Lake wishes: Year round facility; Storage area for those partnering in the facility; Park permitting, Kiosk, Space for partners, Area for meetings, Outside fire pit; Campground, Marina slips; Retail space (not for profit); Space for fire equipment; WiFi hot spot, Trails; and a small kitchen. The Fire Department is considering a burn of the area to clean it up. A day will be planned to do a general cleanup of the property. Insurance liability was discussed. Butch said that community member Stuart McKie volunteered to cut some trees and do some trimming on the property. Anyone doing volunteer work will need to sign a Volunteer Service Statement & Agreement form.
ATV Use: Bruce Beste reminded everyone that there would be an ATV Committee Meeting at 6PM on Wednesday, March 14th at Scott’s Crane Lake Bar & Grill.
Trails Report: There was no report.
Land Use Project: Josh Bergstad of the ARDC will be invited to attend the March 22nd VNP Committee Meeting.
IRRRB Voyageur Statue Work: Rob Scott is working to acquire additional funding for the project.
CIC Covenants/Unit 13: Township Attorney Bob Ruppe has been contacted and CIC information has been sent to him for review. The new owners of Unit 13 want to rent their new home. Unit 13 is included in the CIC. A motion was made by Jim, supported by Jerry, to allow rental of the property, to be reviewed again after receipt of council’s review of the CIC covenants. All voted in favor and the motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS
Spring Short Course, Census Workshop, Town Law Review Expenses: A motion was made by Jim, supported by Butch, to approve expenses for any Board Member wishing to attend Spring Short Courses, Census Workshop or Town Law Review. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
IJC Order for Rainy & Namakan Lakes Water Levels: As reported at the Annual Meeting, the IJC has accepted the Study Board’s recommendations on the water levels. The rule curve may be modified when and if it is determined that a flood is eminent.
Liquor License Approval: A motion was made by Jim, supported by Jerry, knowing that he had a conflict as an owner of Nelson’s Resort, to grant a request for a new Combination On/Off-Sale and Sunday On-Sale Intoxicating Liquor License for the licensing period ending June 30, 2018 and for the renewal of said license for July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. Jim and Jerry voted in favor, Butch abstained, and the motion carried.
