TOWN OF CRANE LAKE

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING

September 11, 2018

 

 

The September 11, 2018 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Jim Janssen  at 7:35PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including: Supervisors Butch Eggen and Jim Janssen; Treasurer Traci Bak; Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman; and 2 members of the community.  Supervisor Jerry Pohlman was absent.

 

BUSINESS

 

Additions to the Agenda: VTSI letter of support was added to New Business.

 

Minutes – A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jim, to approve the minutes of the 8/21/18 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report –The August Cash Balances were read and the bills were presented as follows:  Costin Group – $1,317.58; Couri & Ruppe – $315.00; Lake Country Power – $146.56; Randy Clemmer – $270.00;  CLVTB – $19,365.83; and Payroll – $751.75.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Butch, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

The Clerk presented the correspondence.  The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Costin Group Report:  There was no report.  Gary will be requested to contact VNP Superintendent Bob DeGross regarding the Letter of Intent that was sent to Mr. DeGross for consideration.

 

VNP-Visitor Center/Campsite:

  • Committee Report: There was no report as there has not been a September meeting yet.
  • Grounds Cleanup and Docks: There will be no invoice for material to repair docks.
  • CIC Covenants/Unit 13:  There was no report.

 

.ATV Use:  Bruce Beste was not present to report as he was at a meeting with Destination Polaris.  Destination Polaris is filming in the area over the next three days with the ATV Club, providing a great advertising venue for the area.  The ATV Club meeting will be at Voyagaire on Thursday evening.

 

Trails Report:  There was no report.  No response has been received to the Committee’s letter to the DNR and the USFS regarding the Chaffee Trail.

 

Land Use Project:  Because the community is so involved in developing the Visitor Center/Campground area, the development of the Land Exchange area will be addressed later on.

 

IRRRB Voyageur Statue Work:  There was no report.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Election Judge Appointments:  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jim, to approve the Clerk’s roster of those eligible for appointment to serve on the Election Board for the General Election on November 6, 2018.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

VTSI Letter of Support:  The Voyageur Trails Society has requested a letter of support for an IRRRB Grant to purchase a new groomer.  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jim, for Jim to draft the letter.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Other New Business: There was none.

 

 

Town Of Crane Lake Meeting Minutes – September 11, 2018

 

 

Comments from Officers:  Butch recognized the 9/11 Patriots Day.  He also mentioned that Verizon has been paying for tower space for two years, which indicates that service will be provided at some time.  Jim will communicate with his Verizon contacts to provide information on the status of possible service by Verizon.

 

Public Comment:  There was none.

 

Next Meeting:    Board of Supervisors’ Meeting – 10/9/18, 7:30PM – Fellowship Hall
