TOWN OF CRANE LAKE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING
September 8, 2020
The September 8, 2020 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 7:33PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including: Supervisors Jim Janssen, Kara Knutson and Jerry Pohlman; Treasurer Traci Bak; and Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman.
BUSINESS
Additions to the Agenda: Helipad Lease and Kicker Blvd. Annexation Hearing were added to Old Business
Minutes – A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Kara, to approve the minutes of the 8/18/20 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report –The August Cash Balances were read and the bills were presented as follows: Costin Group – $1,250.00; Lake Country Power – $146.56; St. Louis County Auditor – $1,506.20; Jeff Truebenbach – $425.00; CLVTB -$22,646.42; S.E.H. – $4,690.00; and Payroll – $942.25. A motion was made by Kara, supported by Jim, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
The Clerk presented the correspondence. The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.
OLD BUSINESS
Costin Group Report: There was no new report.
VNP-Visitor Center/Campsite:
Committee Report: There was no report.
Grounds Clean-up: No Report.
Docks: No Report.
CIC Covenants/Unit 13: The updated CIC document was forwarded to the Shuck’s for their review and input last month. A reminder will be sent to the Shucks.
ATV Use: There was no report. Work continues with the next meeting being held at Voyagaire tomorrow evening.
Trails Report: There was no report.
Land Use Project: Because the community is so involved in developing the Visitor Center/Campground area, the development of the Land Exchange area will be addressed later on.
IRRRB Voyageur Statue Work: Rob Scott emailed a report stating the following: We are down to getting the restroom installed, finish kiosk and mount canoe, install the flag poles, and set the picnic tables. All IRRRB funds have been distributed and grant accounts closed out.
Scott’s Seaplane Base: There was no new report. Jo Ann will communicate with Jason Chopp, Kaci Nowicki, and Darrell Scott regarding the status of the Feasibility Study.
Neighborhood Watch Report: There has been no new activity in the area.
MPCA-Ground Water Monitoring – Former Borderland Property: There was nothing new to report. Item will be removed from the Agenda.
Handberg Road Public Water Access – Roadside Parking Hazard: St. Louis County Traffic Engineer Victor Lund has agreed to come to Crane Lake to view the area that the Township requests be posted with ‘No Parking” signs.
Helipad Lease: The re-write of the lease/license between the State of Minnesota and the Town of Crane Lake is still in process with completion expected by September 29th. Kara is pursuing the matter.
Minutes – September 8, 2020 Town of Crane Lake Meeting
Kicker Blvd. Annexation Hearing: The Hearing was held with members of both the Crane Lake Township and the Crane Lake Water & Sanitary District Boards in attendance along with concerned citizens on September 2nd at 4PM. Many attended via ZOOM. The District is requesting the VNP Clean Waters Joint Powers Board to further review the annexation prior to considering a resolution to pursue the proposed annexation. The Township will do the same.
NEW BUSINESS – There was none.
Comments from Officers: Jim wished to thank Gary Cerkvenik and crew for their work on the funding for the Visitor Center and Campground.
Public Comments: There were none.
Next Meeting: Board of Supervisors’ Meeting – October 13, 2020 – 7:30PM, Fellowship Hall
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:05PM.
