TOWN OF CRANE LAKE
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
June 24, 2013
The June 24, 2013 Special Town Meeting was called to order by Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman at 7:30PM, at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including: Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman and 9 members of the community.
Clerk Jo Ann asked for nominations for a Moderator. Ruth L. Carlson nominated Jeff Sanborn, with a second by Jim Janssen. Jo Ann asked for any other nominations three times. There being no other nominations, the nominations were closed. All voted in favor with Jeff Sanborn being nominated to be the Moderator.
Moderator Jeff read the Agenda and explained that the purpose of the meeting was to vote on an additional donation by the Township to the Voyageur Days Committee.
Tony Cornelius provided an explanation of the request. Those supporting the request felt it would be good advertising for the town and increased business for the resorts. The boat races, for which the extra donation is needed, would hopefully bring new customers to the Crane Lake area. There would be local radio advertising and radio stations would be present at the races.
A motion was made by Ruth L. Carlson to donate an additional $2,500.00 to Voyageur Days, Tony Cornelius supported the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40PM
