BOARD OF APPEAL & EQUALIZATION MEETING
May 2, 2013
The May 2, 2013 Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting of the Town of Crane Lake was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 2:04PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including: Supervisors Jerry Pohlman and Butch Eggen, Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, Township Assessor Jan Jackson, St. Louis County Representative Patrick Orent and 3 members of the community. Supervisor Jim Janssen was absent.
Chairman Jerry and Assessor Jan explained that the Board could make valuation and classification changes at this meeting.
Appeals were heard from those present.
Lori K. Sanborn, Parcel Code 308-0140-00090 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to reduce the valuation on the property from $62,200 to $57,400, a reduction of $4,800 changing the acreage grade from average to poor. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Lori K. Sanborn, Parcel Code 308-0240-00011 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch, that the valuation remains the same. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Paul Tufte, Parcel Code 308-0030-05017 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to reduce the valuation from $52,000 to $16,200, a reduction of $35,800 due to removal of additional factors. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Mark Anderson, Parcel Code 308-0030-05015 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch, to reduce the valuation from $92,200 to $27,800, a reduction of $64,400 due to removal of additional factors. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Letters and phone call appeals:
John Bowers, Parcel Code 308-0075-00010 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to reduce the valuation from $$229,500 to $79,000, a reduction of $150,500 due to property being river frontage rather than lake frontage and water access only. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Pohlman Family LTD Partners, Parcel Code 308-0010-03310 appealed valuation of property. Appeal was withdrawn.
Deena Congdon, Parcel Code 308-0080-00406 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, that the valuation remains the same. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Rocks & Waters Land Co, LLC, Parcel Code 308-30-01780 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch to increase the valuation from $62,500 to $138,800, an increase of $76,300 due to wrong tiering of land values. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Rocks & Waters Land Co, LLC, Parcel Code 308-0030-1602 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry to reduce the valuation from $235,400 to $164,200, a reduction of $72,200 due to wrong tiering of land values. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Jesse Lange, Parcel Code 308-0030-01781 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch to reduce the valuation from $316,700 to $142,800, a reduction of $148,600 due to wrong tiering of land values and correction of building assessment. All voted in favor and the motion carried.

Jesse Lange, Parcel Code 308-0030-01603 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry to reduce the valuation from $120,300 to $46,900, a reduction of $73,400 due to wrong tiering of land value. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Deena Congdon, Parcel Code 308-0030-03603 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry to reduce the valuation from $24,200 to $18,100, a reduction of $6,100 due to split in acreage. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Deena Congdon, Parcel Code 308-0030-03180 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry to reduce the valuation from $19,500 to $10,100, a reduction of $9,400 due to split in acreage. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Deena Congdon, Parcel Code 308-0030-01920 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry that the valuation remains the same. All voted in favor and the motion carried.

A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry to reduce the valuation from $38,700 to $3,200, a reduction of $35,500 due to property being river frontage rather than lake frontage and water access only. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Robert Kadar, Parcel Codes 308-0030-01380, 308-0030-01490, 308-0030-01490 appealed valuation of property. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry that the valuations remain the same. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
The Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting was recessed at 6PM to May 20, 2013, 2PM at the Fellowship Hall. Remaining appeals will be considered at that time.
