TOWN OF CRANE LAKE

BOARD OF APPEAL & EQUALIZATION MEETING

April 16, 2020

The April 16, 2020 Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting of the Town of Crane Lake was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 1:00PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including:  Supervisors Kara Knutson, Jim Janssen, and Jerry Pohlman; and Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman. St. Louis County Assessor Beth Sokoloski attended via telephone.

Treasurer Traci Bak was absent.

The purpose of the meeting is to determine whether property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor.

White Pines Properties LLC, Parcel Code 308-0150-00170.  Appealed the valuation of a Park Model on the parcel due to age and condition.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Jerry, to reduce the valuation of the Park Model from $29,700.00 to $12,000.00; reducing the total building valuation from $344,400 to $326,600 – a reduction of $17,800.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

Robert & Shirley Congdon, Personal Property Account 308-0000-00240.  Valuation of the manufactured home was appealed.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Jim, to decrease the value of the manufactured home from $4,400 to $0 as structure is not livable.   All voted in favor and the motion carried.

William & Deena Congdon, Parcel Code 308-0080-00406.  Appealed valuation of property because of no lake view and road running through property.  There has already been a 10% deduction for the property being split by the road.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Kara, that the valuation remain the same at $492,100.00.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

William & Deena Congdon, Parcel Code 308-0030-03120.  Appealed valuation due to no road frontage.  The parcel is accessible by the owners from their other parcels.  A motion was made by Kara, supported by Jim, that the valuation remain the same at $68,300.00.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

There were no other appeals.

The Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting was adjourned at 2:00PM.
