BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING

March 10, 2020

The March 10, 2020 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 6:05PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with those in attendance including: Supervisors Kara Knutson, Jim Janssen and Jerry Pohlman; Treasurer Traci Bak; Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman and 5 members of the community.

BUSINESS

Additions to the Agenda:  There were none.

Minutes – A motion was made by Jim, supported by Kara, to approve the minutes of the 2/11/20 Special CL Airport Feasibility Study Meeting and Board of Supervisors’ Meeting.   All voted in favor and the motion carried. (The 2/11/20 Board of Audit Meeting Minutes were approved at the 3/10/20 Annual Meeting)

Treasurer’s Report –The February Cash Balances were read and the bills were presented as follows: Cook News-Herald – $115.50; Lutefisk Tech. – $394.95; Shirley Sanborn – $154.00 & $18.12; Debora Scott – $154.00; Jill Crain – $154.00; Costin Group – $1,250.00; Lake Country Power – $146.56; CLVTB – $805.39;  and Payroll – $1,060.02.  A motion was made by Kara, supported by Jim, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills.  All voted in favor and the motion carried. 

The Clerk presented the correspondence.  The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.

OLD BUSINESS

Costin Group Report:  Gary Cerkvenik provided the following via email:  The Senate authors have included $3.1 million for the site preparation and construction of the campground in Crane Lake in their bill to fund the LCCMR.  House support and passage is still needed along with our bonding request for the visitor center.

VNP-Visitor Center/Campsite:   

Committee Report:  No Report.

Grounds Clean-up: No Report.

Docks:  No Report.

CIC Covenants/Unit 13:  Deena’s questions responding to the revised CIC draft sent by Brian Lindsey of Trenti Law Firm where sent to Brian. There still has been no response with repeated email requests being sent.

ATV Use:  Bruce Beste stated that the Club has lumber to sell due to a change in length required for the boardwalk.  The lumber could not be returned.  Money received from lumber purchases will go toward gravel and other future expenses. Contact Bruce, if you need lumber.  The ATV meeting is at the Dam in Orr on Wednesday.

Trails Report:  No Report. 

Land Use Project:  Because the community is so involved in developing the Visitor Center/Campground area, the development of the Land Exchange area will be addressed later on.

IRRRB Voyageur Statue Work: No Report.

Scott’s Seaplane Base:  There will be an Airport Feasibility Study Meeting on April 14, 2020 at 4PM at the Fellowship Hall.

Neighborhood Watch Report:  The signs have been ordered.

Minutes – March 10, 2020 Town of Crane Lake Meeting

NEW BUSINESS

Short Course Attendance & Expenses:  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Jerry, to approve expenses for anyone wishing to attend the MAT Spring Short Course.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

Mid-State Consultants Consent Form:  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Jim, to sign the consent form acknowledging that information was received and that the Township does not have a problem with Frontier Communications placing telecommunication cable/facilities in the Township and advising that the Township does not have roads – only County and private.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

Public Health Contacts:  St. Louis County Public Health is fine tuning its emergency communications plan in the event of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the County by updating email addresses for best point of contact for 24/7 communication for cities and towns.  The Township email address will be confirmed and Kara’s email will be added. 

Other New Business: None       

Comments from Officers:  Jerry thanked all for attending the Annual Meeting and thanked the Budget Committee for their efforts in providing the levy and budget information for 2021.

Public Comments:  Mark Anderson provided information that the ‘Flower Crew’ is receiving a maintenance vehicle to assist with watering the flowers from Dawson’s Five Seasons Sports.  A big thank you to the Dawson’s, who have a cabin in the community!

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:25PM.
