TOWN OF CRANE LAKE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING
November 9, 2018
The November 9, 2018 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 2:15PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with those in attendance including: Supervisors Butch Eggen and Jerry Pohlman; Treasurer Traci Bak; Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman; and 5 members of the community. Supervisor Jim Janssen was absent.
BUSINESS
Additions to the Agenda: There were none.
Minutes – A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to approve the minutes of the 10/9/18 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report –The October Cash Balances were read and the bills were presented as follows: CNH – $105.00; Lutefisk Tech. – $275.40; Costin Group – $1,316.49; VHB – $380.96; Lake Country Power – $146.12; Randy Clemmer – $90.00; CLVTB – $12,025.46; Premier Pyrotechnics – $8,500.00; Shirley Sanborn – $140.00; Debora Scott – $140.00; Jill Crain – $130.00; and Payroll – $751.75. A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
The Clerk presented the correspondence. The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.
OLD BUSINESS
Costin Group Report: There was no report.
VNP-Visitor Center/Campsite:
- Committee Report: The design workshop for the proposed visitor center and campground was on Friday, October 26th, beginning with an optional Site Tour from 9:30am – 11:30am; followed by Pizza Lunch at Voyagaire at noon. The workshop was at Voyagaire from 1pm to 4pm. Many community members attended.
- Grounds Cleanup and Docks: There was no report.
- CIC Covenants/Unit 13: There was no report.
.ATV Use: Bruce Beste was present and updated those present on the activities of the ATV Club.
Trails Report: There was no report.
Land Use Project: Because the community is so involved in developing the Visitor Center/Campground area, the development of the Land Exchange area will be addressed later on.
IRRRB Voyageur Statue Work: There was no report.
Scott’s Seaplane Base: A draft scope and fee is being prepared by Kaci Nowicki of S.E.H. to send to MnDOT for review and approval prior to S.E.H. presenting a contract proposal to the Township.
NEW BUSINESS
CLWSD Board Appointment Notice: A notice will be posted and published advising the public that two positions on the Board of Managers of the Crane Lake Water & Sanitary District will be up for appointment at the December Township Board of Supervisors’ Meeting. Contact the Town Board Clerk, if interested.
ARDC Representative: A memo was received from the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC) asking for nominations for Township Official Representatives for St. Louis County ARDC Representative. If interested in recommending someone, please contact the Town Board Clerk.
Town of Crane Lake Meeting Minutes – November 9, 2018
Other New Business: There was none.
Comments from Officers: Butch congratulated Katie Congdon on her election as Town Supervisor beginning in 2019. He said it had been a fun ride with one more meeting for him as Town Supervisor.
Public Comment: Bill Congdon thanked Butch for his service on the Board. Katie Congdon thanked those electing her to the Board and said she looks forward to serving on the Board.
Next Meeting: Board of Supervisors’ Meeting– 12/11/18, 5:30PM – Fellowship Hall
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:40PM.
