TOWN OF CRANELAKE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING
October 8, 2013
The October 8, 2013 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 7:35PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in attendance including: Supervisors Butch Eggen and Jerry Pohlman, Treasurer Shannon Bibeau, and Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman. Supervisor Jim Janssen was absent.
BUSINESS
Additions to the Agenda: There were none.
Minutes – A motion was made Butch, supported by Jerry, to approve the minutes of the 9/10/2013 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report – Shannon read the September Cash Balances and presented the bills as follows: Postmaster – $46.00; IRS – $403.74; CL Sustainable Land Corp. – $200.00; CLVTB – $17,313.36; Fryberger, Buchanan – $235.00; and Payroll – $530.74. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
The Clerk presented the correspondence. The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.
OLD BUSINESS
Land Exchange/Community Property Project: The Committee is waiting to hear from Frontier Communications on the lease agreement. The easements for the hiking trail and snowmobile trail are nearly complete. He believes we are in the home stretch of the ten year project.
Jacque Eggen Memorial Fund: There was no update.
Crane Lake Road Repair: The Clerk sent a copy of the Township’s letter of 8/13/13 to County Commissioner Forsman to Leiding and Portage Townships.
Planning Commission: The Board will discuss further when and if the Land Exchange is completed.
Sewer Service Expansions: The Board agreed that a member of the Township Board should begin attending the CLWSD meetings with reports provided when appropriate. The Board is sending a letter to Chairman Rob Scott advising of the Board’s decision.
NEW BUSINESS
Heart of the Continent Partnership: The Board discussed the Media Release of the Heart of the Continent Partnership’s plan to launch a geotourism partnership with National Geographic Society.
CLWSD Board Positions Posting: A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch, to post the two openings on the CLWSD Board to be filled by January 1, 2014. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Assessment Services: A letter was received from the St. Louis County Assessor’s Office stating that the County Board of Commissioners acted to eliminate assessment fees for those cities and townships using County Assessor services beginning January 1, 2014. The Board agreed to honor our current contract with Jan Jackson and to reassess at the end of that contract next June.
Other New Business: There was none.

Comments from Officers: Jerry said that the International Joint Commission has hired an engineering firm to survey the Namakan Basin for high water events. Research is for the 2015 review.
Next Meeting: Board of Supervisors Meeting, Nov. 12, 2013 – 7:30PM, Fellowship Hall
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15PM.
