RECONVENED BOARD OF APPEAL & EQUALIZATION MEETING

MAY 18, 2005

 

The Reconvened Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting of the Town of Crane Lake was held on Wednesday, May 18, 2005.  Chairman Jerry Pohlman called the meeting to order at 2:00PM.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those in attendance, including: Supervisors Jerry Pohlman, Jim Janssen, and Mark Anderson, Treasurer Butch Eggen, Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, Township Assessor Richard Vidmar, St. Louis County Representative John Jokinen, and two members of the community.

 

Gordon and Bonnie Rue, Parcel Code 308-0030-00750, appealed the proposed increase in valuation of their property.  Their property is on Johnson Lake and Mr. Vidmar thought they may have been caught in the increase of Crane Lake valuations. A motion was made, supported, and carried at the 5/3/05 meeting to follow Mr. Vidmar’s recommendation to roll back the Rue estimated land valuation from $202,200 to the 2005 estimate of $175,800 with a request for a review of the property by Mr. Vidmar.  Mr. Vidmar reviewed the property and recommended the property valuation be reduced further to coincide with property valuations for Johnson Lake.  A motion was made by Mark, supported by Jim, to follow Mr. Vidmar’s recommendation to reduce the Rue estimated land valuation from $202,200 to $116,700, a reduction of $85,500.  Motion carried.

 

Robert Scott, Parcel Codes 308-0030-3229, 308-0070-00010, 308-0070-00320, 308-0150-00015, 308-0150-00020, 308-0150-00030, 308-01150-00162 and 308-0150-00163, classification changes were made in the following motion.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Mark, to change the classifications of the Robert Scott property as follows:  PC # 308-0030-3229, 308-0070-00010, & 308-0070-00320 remain at the 201-1 Classification; PC # 308-0150-00010 from 201-1 to 221-1 Classification; PC #308-0150-00015 from 201-1 to  two records with Classification codes 221-1 and 232-1; PC # 308-0150-00020 from 201-1 to two records with Classification codes 221-1 and 232-1; PC #308-1050-00030 from 201-1 to 221-1 Classification; and PC #308-0150-00162 and 308-0150-00163 from 201-1 to 232-1 Classification.  Motion carried.

 

Ward McDonald, Parcel Codes 308-0030-01578 and 308-0030-01576, questioned valuation of his vacant property.  Mr. McDonald’s request was reviewed by Mr. Vidmar and the County Assessors, with the recommendation that no change in valuation be made.  A motion was made by Mark, supported by Jim, to follow Mr. Vidmar’s recommendation that the valuation of the McDonald property remain the same.   Motion carried.

 

NEW CONSTRUCTION

 

Randall Stern, Parcel Codes 308-80-405, Records 1 and 2, new park trailer rental unit.  A motion was made by Mark, supported by Jim, to follow Mr. Vidmar’s recommendation to increase the building valuation on Record 1 from $74,800 to $104,700, an increase of $29,900.  Motion carried.

 

DSR Sales, Inc. Parcel Code 308-105-240, 30% complete new building.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Mark, to follow Mr. Vidmar’s recommendation to increase the building valuation from $9,500 for the old building to $29,900 for the 30% completed new building, a new valuation of $29,900.  Motion carried.

 

Jeffrey G. Erickson, Pine Point Lodge Parcel Code 30830-1830, Records 2 and 3, 100% complete new building on Record 3.  A motion was made by Mark, supported by Jim, to follow Mr. Vidmar’s recommendation to increase the building valuation on Record 3 from $51,000 to $72,500, an increase of $21,500.  Motion carried.
