January 7, 2008



The January 7, 2008 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 7:35PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with those in attendance including:  Supervisors Butch Eggen, Jerry Pohlman and Jim Janssen, Treasurer Terrie Hoff,  Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, a reporter from the Voyageur Sentinel and 2 members of the community.


Additions to the Agenda:  None


Minutes – A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jim, to approve the minutes of the12/11/07 Supervisors’ Meeting.  Jim, Butch, and Jerry voted in favor and the motion carried.


Treasurer’s Report – Terrie read the December Cash Balances and presented the bills as follows:  McCahill Publishing, Inc. – $19.25; Vidmar Appraisals – $1,360.00; CLVTB – $854.89; IRS – $1,027.71; Minnesota Revenue – $101.82; and Payroll – $490.26.   A motion was made by Jim, supported by Butch, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills.  Jerry, Butch and Jim voted in favor and the motion carried.  Terrie presented a funds transfer request to the Supervisors.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Jim to approve a transfer of $4,449.38 from the Fire Protection Fund to the General Fund.  Jerry, Jim, and Butch voted in favor and the motion carried.


The Clerk presented the correspondence.  The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.





Land Exchange/Community Property Project: Ruth L. Carlson was not present to report.


Community Action Plan Status:  There was no report.


Propane:  There was no report.


CLWSD Dialogue:  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Butch to appoint Jerry to be the Township Board representative for economic concern discussions with the CLWSD Board representatives. Jim, Butch, and Jerry voted in favor and the motion carried.


Review Meeting Dates:  The Board reviewed upcoming meeting dates and found there would be a quorum for each meeting throughout the Sport Show season.


Bear Island Judgment:  Notice was received that the petition to vacate the Highland Park Entrance on Bear Island was denied.  There is a permanent injunction regarding the use and development of Highland Park Entrance road. Highland Park Entrance shall be returned to its pre-litigation condition.  The petitioners shall be allowed to maintain a legally recognized and DNR approved barrier across the front of Highland Park Entrance.




Board of Audit Meeting Date & Time:  The Board of Audit Meeting date and time was set for February 12th, 7PM, at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall prior to the Board of Supervisors’ Meeting.


March Board of Supervisors/Reorganization Meeting Date:  The meeting date was set for March 18th, 7:30PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall.


Budget Committee Meeting:  The meeting date was tentatively set for either January 28th or 29th at 10AM at the Clerk’s home.

Mike White asked if new line items could be added at the Budget Committee Meeting.  The answer was yes.
