TOWN OF CRANE LAKE
RECONVENED ANNUAL MEETING
August 9, 2005
The August 9, 2005 Reconvened Annual Meeting was called to order by Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman at 8:30PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with Supervisors Mark Anderson, Jerry Pohlman, and Jim Janssen, Treasurer Butch Eggen, Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, Moderator Jeff Sanborn, reporters from the Voyageur Sentinel and the Timberjay, and 8 members of the community in attendance.
Clerk Jo Ann explained that this meeting was the Reconvened meeting of the Annual meeting of March 8, 2005; the purpose being to approve a levy amount for 2006. She explained that the Town Supervisors do not conduct the meeting and that Jeff Sanborn was elected on March 8th to be the Moderator. She then turned the meeting over to Jeff.
Moderator Jeff stated that the only item on the Agenda was to approve the 2006 levy and reviewed the procedure that would be followed to arrive at the levy. He explained that voting would be done by show of hands. Jeff reminded everyone that all may participate in the meeting, but only registered voters of Crane Lake may vote.
BUSINESS:
Jeff asked Township Treasurer and Budget Committee Chairman Butch Eggen to review the proposed budget for 2006. Butch thanked the Budget Committee members for their service and then reviewed each item on the Township Budget and asked if there were any questions. There were none. Butch then stated that the Fire Protection portion of the levy request was $48,000 and referred to Moderator and Fire Chief Jeff Sanborn to review that portion of the budget; which he did. Moderator Jeff asked if there were any questions. There were none. Butch stated that the Town Board of Supervisors’ supported the Budget as presented.
Moderator Jeff asked for a motion to approve the Township portion of the levy amount of $22,550. A motion was made by Sandra Bodkin, supported by Ruth L Carlson, to approve the Township portion of the levy amount of $22,550. Jeff asked if there was any discussion. There was none. Jeff then called for a show of hands vote for the levy amount. 13 voted yes. Jeff asked for a show of hands vote against the levy amount. There were none. Motion carried.
Jeff asked for a motion to approve the Fire Protection portion of the levy amount of $48,000. A motion was made by Shirley Sanborn, supported by Ruth L. Carlson, to approve the Fire Protection portion of the levy amount of $48,000. Jeff asked if there was any discussion. There was none. Jeff called for a show of hands vote for the levy amount. 13 voted yes. Jeff asked for a show of hands vote against the levy amount. There were none. Motion carried.
Moderator Jeff stated that the total levy amount of $70,550 to be sent to the County Auditor in September had been approved.
The 2006 Annual Meeting will be the second Tuesday in March at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall at 8:15PM.
