TOWN OF CRANE LAKE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING
March 10, 2015
The March 10, 2015 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 8:00PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with those in attendance including: Supervisors Butch Eggen and Jerry Pohlman; Treasurer Traci Bak; Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, and 6 members of the community. Supervisor Jim Janssen was absent.
BUSINESS
Additions to the Agenda: There were no additions.
Minutes – A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to approve the minutes of the 2/10/2015 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report –The February Cash Balances were read and the bills were presented as follows: Costin Group – $1,000.00; Town of Portage – $78.48; Timberjay – $53.60; CLVTB – $1,604.68; and Payroll – $843.17. A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
The Clerk presented the correspondence. The correspondence was received as read and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.
OLD BUSINESS
Land Exchange/Community Property Project: A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, that Jo Ann email Fryberger, Buchanan requesting that they prepare execution copies of the draft easements with Lake Country Power, CLWSD and the Volunteer Fire Department for Board review and transmit them to the appropriate parties for signature. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Jacque Eggen Memorial Fund: There was no report.
Costin Group Report: Gary Cerkvenik reported that he had worked with folks on the ATV/UTV issue on Forest Roads, and he had worked on funding for the VNP presence in Crane Lake.
Crane Lake Road Repair: There was no report.
VNP-Visitor Center/Campsite: There was no report.
Frontier Internet: Jim plans to attend the rescheduled meeting for townships at the Northeast Service Cooperative in Mountain Iron on April 28th at 10AM. The meeting was rescheduled due to ongoing discussions with DEED regarding the framework for the grant agreement, NESC will have more information to provide at that time.
UTV Use on Vermilion Falls Road: Committee Chair Bruce Beste provided an email as a follow-up to his meeting with the USFS in Cook. He felt the meeting was very productive. The USFS is interesting in openings roads to ATV and Side by Side access as long as appropriate due diligence is done in regards to safety. Additional letters of support have been requested. Contact Bruce Beste for detailed information on his meetings with the USFS and advice on letters of support. Grooming of cross-country ski trails is also being discussed by the community.
Crane Lake Comprehensive Plan: The Board needs more time to discuss the information that has been provided. Action was tabled.

NEW BUSINESS
Board of Appeals Date: The date for the Board of Appeals meeting was set by St. Louis County for Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 1PM at the Fellowship Hall.
2015 Spring Short Course and 2015 Legal Short Course: A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Butch, to approve expenditures for any Board member attending either meeting. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Other New Business: There was none.
Comments from Officers: Jerry thanked everyone for attending both the Annual Meeting and the Board of Supervisors’ Meeting. He also thanked the Budget Committee for their work on the budget/levy. Butch mentioned that he had mixed feelings on the lack of reports at the Annual Meeting from the various groups asked to report and thanked those that did. Bruce’s work on the ATV/UTV Committee was acknowledged as well as Jim Janssen’s work with telecommunications.
Public Comments: Bruce Beste advised all that there is a lot going on with the CLWSD and encouraged attendance at the meetings held on the first Wednesday of each month. There will also be Public Meetings held this summer. Ruth L. Carlson congratulated the Budget Committee on their presentation of the budget/levy.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25PM.
