TOWN OF CRANE LAKE

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING

March 12, 2024

 

 

The March 12, 2024, Board of Supervisors’ Meeting was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 6:15PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall following the Annual Meeting with those in attendance including: Supervisors Jim Janssen, Jerry Pohlman & Jeanne Shuck; Treasurer Traci Bak; Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman; and five members of the community (including Zoom). Deputy-Clerk Gretchen Janssen were absent.

 

BUSINESS

 

Additions to the Agenda: There were none.

 

Minutes – A motion was made by Jeanne, supported by Jerry, to approve the minutes of the 2/13/24 Board of Supervisors’ Meeting.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report –The February Cash Balances were read, and the bills were presented as follows: Cook News-Herald – $96.00; Vanessa Ingebretsen -$113.75; Shirley Sanborn – $156.00; Debora Scott – $240.50; Jeanne Shuck – $195.00; Costin Group – $1,250.00; Lake Country Power – $156.00; CLVTB – $198.47; Johnson, Killen & Seiler – $1,263.83; TechBytes – $285.00; Braun Intertec – $1,080.00; CR-Bldg. Performance – $5,278.11; and Payroll – $1,085.86.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Jeanne, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read and the payment of bills.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

The Clerk presented the correspondence.  The correspondence was received and will be placed on file and acted upon as required.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

VNP-Visitor Center/Campground:

Committee Report & Resulting Board Action:  Gretchen provided the following report:  Nothing is happening with the campground now.  Construction of the Visitor Center is moving along as expected.

Bills to approve:

S.E.H.  461214             $4,760.00 Visitor Center (Reimbursable LCCMR)

S.E.H.  461215              $2,550.0 Campground (Reimbursable LCCMR)

CR-BPS  March 1          $5,278.11 B3 commissioning

Total:                          $12,588.11

Reminder:  The Committee is planning a meeting for Tuesday, April 23rd at 5:30PM at the Fellowship Hall to discuss the Visitor Center exterior signage among other things.

Board Action:  A motion was made by Jeanne, supported by Jim, to approve the above listed bills totaling $12,588.11 for payment.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.  A motion was made by Jeanne, supported by Jerry, to approve and sign the Supplemental Lease Agreement between Crane Lake Township and the United States of American amending Lease No. GS- NPS_VOYA_2024_01 clarifying maintenance responsibilities of both parties.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Bayside Drive Upgrade:  Rachel Contracting has cut the trees along Bayside Drive in preparation for construction beginning in May.

 

American Rescue Plan Act Fund ($1,111.15):  The Board agreed that the remaining funds could be used for internet at the Visitor Center.

 

McKie Easement Request:  The Board will plan a closed meeting following the April regular meeting.

 

VNP Ice Road Management Plan:  There was no report.

 

Bayside Drive Maintenance:  The Board will discuss what needs to be included in a bid for road maintenance. It was agreed that no maintenance should be done until after the construction.

 

Dark Sky Crane Lake:  There was no report. Peter Coggan will have a report at a future meeting.

Zoom Subscription:  Nancy Ross expressed her reasons for the Board to continue with Zoom.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Jeanne, to continue with Zoom.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

 

Other New Business:  There was none.

 

Comments from Officers:  There were none.

 

Public Comments:   Deena Congdon requested that planning for a 2025 Community Action Plan be placed on the Agenda for the April meeting.
